LumaTrack was founded in Johannesburg in 2022 by a team of electrical engineers and security operators who watched cable theft cripple our cities — and decided to do something about it.
From a load-shed Johannesburg garage to nationwide deployments.
In 2022, our founders walked the N1 corridor at night and counted over 600 dark streetlights in a single 12 km stretch. The municipal SCADA reported 98% uptime. The reality was 41%.
That gap — between what the systems said and what was actually happening on the ground — became LumaTrack. Per-node telemetry, tamper detection, and a control room that doesn't sleep.
Today we monitor over 12,000 nodes across Gauteng, the Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal, working with metros, freeway contractors, and private estates.
